The role of the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation in establishment of persistent
Hepatitis B Virus infection
The aim of this project is to identify as many cellular proteins as possible that are involved in HBV envelope protein degradation and to establish a correlation between the modulated expression of these proteins and HBV cccDNA synthesis. The HBV cccDNA is the replicative form of the virus and the most difficult to remove during the treatment of chronic infection. Our work may open the way for finding new classes of antiviral compounds with improved efficiency.
